l went to my local Citroen dealer on Sunday and ordered a new C1 Code for my wife. The dealer could not give me any idea of delivery time until he had rang someone (head office maybe?) on Tuesday to confirm.

The salesman rang me this afternoon and told me that it would take eight to twelve weeks until the car arrived.

Does this sound right? l was thinking it could take up to a month but twelve weeks for a cheap and cheerful city car? l could understand if it was a luxury car like a BMW.

Has anyone got any idea why it takes so long? Maybe someone who works for Citroen.

It depends on where they have to push it from. Why do not you buy a decent car instead of this froggy crud.

8 to 12 weeks is pretty much standard these days. Cars r produced in ''lean'' production environments, ie they r built to order

Gone r the days when a dealer would have a field full of cars.

However, l assume the C1 Code is a limited edition so would have expected their to be dealer stock. l bought C2 & C4 ''by Loeb'' specials last year & both were available immediately.

Personally, l would go back to the dealer & say that the lead time is more than you'd like & is there anything that could be done? You could also try the same tact with Citroen is customer care - l complained to Volvo customer care when my parents order a new Volvo & got 4 weeks shaved off the delivery time.

If u r part exchanging a vehicle, make sure that the dealer wont try & renegotiate the price if delivery is actually 3 months away.
