Can anyone tell me how much it is to have a Full Service for the Citroen Xsara Picasso?l have recently brought it and it has 53,000 miles on the clock - l am to believe that at 60k it is meant to have a full service and its cambelt changed? Is this true and if so how much roughly will this cost me and am l better going to Citroen for this or my usual garage???x

Go to your local garage - it will be cheaper.

A full service and cambelt change is likely to set you back about £200+

If you suspect that the cambelt has not been changed then get it done - if it snaps - the price will be for a new engine

Go to your local garage - Citroen prices are very pricey.

Service should cost you around £100 and Cambelt change around £150 depending upon where you are in the country of course.

Your next service is due at 62,500 miles as ur car is on 12,500 mile service intervals. 75,000 miles is when the full service & timing belt change is due. Do not worry about getting the timing belt changed early & disregard those that tell u to do so. l know it is catastrophic if the belt snaps, but these belts do not snap without something causing it apart from wear & tear. The petrol engines r the weakest as far as belts r concerned, but l regulalry see belts being changed at 100,000 miles with no significant wear to the belt. Out of thousands of Citroens, mainly diesels, l have NEVER seen a belt break early due to natural wear.

If u take ur car to ur local garage the service will not be as thorough as the recommended Citroen service schedule, & therefore it will be done more swiftly & therefore will cost less even before u compare the difference in labour rates. Even the difference in labour rates is due to the increased overheads of a franchised dealer, but then the dealer has access to a mountain of specialised tooling, technical documentation, manufacturer technical assistance, & manufacturer specific training that the independant garage does not.

The dealer price for the 75,000 service would be around £450 & the price of the 62,500 mile service would be about £120. That is assuming that u have a diesel picasso as their timing belts take a few hours longer to change than the petrol engines.
