l have a C4 1.6VTR+.Was driving it at 70 mph, slowing down when coming of the dual carriageway and instead of putting the the car in 4th gear, l accidently put it in 2nd gear,This red lined the engine, not for long but now the service indicator is bleeping and a message saying engine management system fault.What have l done?

You did a MISTAKE ! It is better you take it to a Citroen dealer and ask him to check it using the engine diagnostic computer. It should not be a big trouble, but it is better you check it out.

It is probably caused the engine ECU to store a fault code - Go to a garage & have it read, you do not need a Citroen dealer, and it probably has not done any harm. It is probably stored a fault code to check the rev limiter.
