it means DONT F-IN DRIVE IT
the carburettor is leaking into the fan belt
(joke, dunno what it means)

but you should get a mechanic to give it a once over, either that, or everybody watches you enter the pearly gates in a blaze of glory (and fire)

(or nothing could happen)

my car did that for a while and l opened it and there was petrol leaking out the engine coz a valve was stuck open or summin. take a look at engine see if u see any fumes or wet

You need to attempt to find where the smell is coming from.
The fuel tank & fuel pump r underneath the back seat & the fuel pipes run underneath the car to the engine at the front. Finding out where the smell is coming from may allow u to trace it to pipes or tank or engine. When u narrow it down a bit more then get a friend to turn the ignition on without starting the car (you will hear a buzz from under the back seat as the fuel pump primes) This will pressurize the fuel system so that if there is a leak u can have a look & see where the fuel is coming from. Just keeping looking & getting ur friend to turn the ignition off & on until u find it.
Alternatively it could be that the engine is running very rich (is ur fuel economy below normal) If this is the case then the exhaust fumes will smell very petroly & then l would suspect an oxygen sensor in the exhaust, but a garage would be able to confirm that by pluging in their computer.
