l took my car for a free brake check today and the guy said that the shoes and drums are corroded, so he did not wanna damage them getting them off, but that they look fine, so until l have any problems they do not need replacing. l needed the front pads and disks doing though.

l do not know ANYTHING about cars, so is it that he could not be bothered to look at the drums and shoes??? or do you agree that it could damage them to get the corroded ones off??

Please help as l do not wanna have faulty brakes or get ripped off!!

The rear brake drums will look rusty from the outside, but he should still have no problem getting them off in minutes if he knew what he was doing, sounds to me like he could not be bothered with the hassle of taking them off.

However, l know saxos intimately as l work with them all day long, & the chances r that ur rear brakes r ok, they do not require attention as often as the front ones, but front discs & pads r notorious for wearing out quickly on the saxo.

So just replacing the front discs & pads should be fine, & as the brake check was free u r not getting ripped off.
