ive tried all the compairson sites and they are really expensive, can anyone suggest a cheaper insurance company?l love my car and dont wanna sell it!
2300 was fire and theft and l dont wanna risk just 3d party!
i was thinking of doing pass pluss but l wanna drive in the meantime, can l change the policy to say ive got passpluss say a few moths later do you rekon?
ok l just did money supermarket.com and got it down to 2000 which works out at roughly 167 per month, which is better!

Eek, that is extortionate.

You could maybe just be ensured for fire & theft, but l dunno if u have to be on someone else is policy to do that.

Go with the same company as ur parents r with, u could probably get a multicar discount if you're all on the same policy.

Edit: About pass plus, l do not know if u can change ur policy during it, but it is only one lesson type thing so u could book it soon & then u can drive as soon as possible with a smaller insurance. My brother did pass plus & it made him more confident on the road & the insurance went down a lot.

try uswitch, but at your age you will struggle to get cheap insurance, especially with a saxo, which is known as a boy racer car. If l was an insurer, l would not touch you with a barge pole to be honest.

By doing the Pass-Plus course with a driving school it can bring down the premium with some companies.

You do not say how old the car is and what its worth - so it may be that only going for 3rd party until you build up some no-claims could also reduce the bill.

Sadly for young men the premium is always going to be very high, and only a little less for girls.

Perhaps paying monthly would help?

Could be cheaper to have someone older, maybe a parent, insured on it then you could be insured on the back of them

if you have an elderly relative put them down as main driver and put yourself on the policy through saga its the best way to reduce costs until you get older mine went from £900 to £231 massive diffeence

try moneysupermarket.com that is the site l use l always save loads. Got insurance for my Clio 1.4 for £1200 few years ago. Also look into pass plus, that can help you save loads, l did it and Norwich Union Direct knocked a grand off.

In all honesty, l think you are going to down grade your car, and have such an item when you are older, like, when you are 25 years old. sorry.

You need a car with a smaller engine. If you're male, under 22, have a car with a sizeable engine (anything over a 1.2 litre is considered a bit too powerful for a young'un by the insurance companies l am afraid), leave the car on the road, have a red or racing green coloured car, have any points on ur license: you're going to have to py a LOT of money to be insured.

Sorry mate, but l was there too- l ended up having to get a 1.2 litre corsa instead & parking it on the driveway (not the road) at night, but the insurance was not much cheaper than what you've been quoted.

Maybe consider getting an additional driving qualifiation like Pass Plus (google it)- it shows you're more serious about driving safety & have more experience than most. You might be able to shave a couple of hundred quid off ur insurance that way. But at the end of the day, if you're male & young you're going to pay a lot no matter what.

Edit: If u want to drive in the meantime, can not u just go on someone else is insurance? Use ur mum / dad / guardian is car when they're not & be put on as an additional user? it is not ideal, but it'd save u a lot of money until u complete the Pass Plus course & get ur own insured car.

You are 17 so its to be expected.

I'd say that if you can not find anything through the comparision sites then you have no hope.

Someone said about placing an older driver on the policy. Run that through the system and l bet you will notice a huge difference. l was speaking to a guy the other week and he did this for his son and the price fell a long way, so try it.

Which ever way u look at it, ur insurance premium is gonna be terrible. My first car was an F-reg 1.0 Micra in 2001. The AA quoted me £3600. Yes, that is not a typo.

Now, at 25, l have a 1.0 Micra (2000) & a 1.4 Almera (1998) & l pay about £48 a month for the two cars combined with swiftcover.com - for third party fire & theft - thanks to NCB building up.

Give those guys a try. Be prepared to spend a fair bit on insurance if ur first car is anything other than an insurance group 1 or 2.

My daughter got a quote from Tesco when she was 17 and it was a lot cheaper than anywhere else so try it, you have nothing to lose.

As its a 1.4 it will be quite pricey at ur age! My son has a 1.1 Punto at 17, which cost him £900 to insure on a provisional licence but after he passed his test they (Kwikfit) wanted another £600! he did his Pass Plus which cost £120, but should get him about 30% off when he renews the policy (with another company though) . Try Lexham they always come up quite reasonable but as l said 1.4 will be more to insure, u should have gone for a 1.1 to start off with. hope this helps!

Try the Auto Trader website! Its just like all the other comparison sites out there. l just got a quote for my boyfriend for a Toyota Supra 3.0 turbo and they quoted £500 bearing in mind that hes nearly 26 and has 8 years no claims, but it might be worth a look! Otherwise you could try Direct Line, Tesco or any other major insurer.
Hope this helps!

It is only a few lessons to get your Pass Plus. It will make such a difference - some companies wont touch a 17 yr old without this extra certificate. Try Tesco. You will save more than the cost of a few lessons if you do pass plus.

If you do not drive late at night etc. you can bring the premium down.
Also, AA can offer you a good deal.
l got a good deal from Churchill.
I'd stay away from small unknown companies with hear-say reputation.
