Car for the wife and kid, her company one goes back next month, seen a picasso 55 plate with 25k on the clock, 1.6 petrol for £6495, is it worth that in the sense of value for money and reliability, looked at Whatcar & parkers etc. but get overwhelmed with the reviews, anyone have personal opinions from experience with this car, although 6.5k is not a vast sum of money, its alot to get lumbered with a dud

My wife, who drives various cars, used a pool car of this model and was very unimpressed. Also a colleague bought one new and it was back to the dealers several times in the first two months with brake problems. l believe they do not exhibit the best reliability statistics, which l suppose is more objective than one or two examples encountered by an individual, and that is why they are cheap secondhand.

l worked for a car rental company for 10 months last year & drove this car, among lots of others. My advice is STAY CLEAR, IT'S CRAP!! As far as French cars go the only decent company is Peugeot - Renault & Citroen r cheap & nasty. It would become false economy to buy this heap of junk as you'd end up spending money on all sorts of things. l would recommend searching for a VolksWagen Touran or a Mazda 5, u may pay slightly more, but it will be a saving in the long term. Hope this helps!

l dont have first hand experiance , however a member of my family own one, it was a year old and went back 5 times with a gearbox fault, in the end it was part ex'd for another vehicle as reliabilty was not very good at all, however this was a diesel with a autobox with the option to use gears if l remember correctly. as for build quality citreon will never be the best, but they arnt as bad as some......

l had this car as a hire car & was very unimpressed with it. It drives & handles badly the fuel consumption was just over 32 mpg & the car l had was a 2006/56 with 13k on the clock. It had very little equipment as practically everything is an optional extra. You will get stung with the tax because of the emissions. l would seriously have a look around at other vehicles. If u go to autotrader.co.uk set the parameters to value up to £7k & MPV up to 3 years old there r over 1200 cars u will find something better than a Picasso.

Hope this helps

do yourself a favour and do not buy a picasso, long list of problems, more so with the petrol engined models

i would recommend a zafira petrol or diesel, similar size to the picasso, a lot more reliable and you have the advantage of 7 seats if you need them, if not it is a good sized boot, would cost more comparativley, but a lot better value over all, also the depreciation is less frightening.

WOW, seems like a lot of people r not as happy with their Picasso as l am. l spent £18k on my top of the range Picasso in 2005 & have not regretted it at all.
It is packed with equipent, it is really versatile & best of all, very reliable.
It is very comfortable, with the suspension soaking up any bumps. Also it has automatic everything - wipers, lights u name it. l get on average 55 MPG from the 1.6 HDi diesel engine - not to be sniffed at!
l did however test drive a Renault Scénic before l got tempted by Citroen is cashback deals, & it was a much better handling car, so if it is a sporty drive ur wife is after have a look at the Scénic.
Otherwise, the Picasso is fantastic. Plus, a 55 plate will still have manufacturers warranty, so if anything does go wrong, you've got piece of mind.

l work in a citroen garage and the the picasso is a very reliable car ! all cars have problems ,they are complex machines ,but picasso s no more than others !!
we see them mainly for servicing ,mot ,brake disc s, centre exhaust , basically fair wear and tear items !!!
but please please go for an hdi diesel , petrol ones devalue like crazy and are heavy on fuel !!! the diesel should give nearly 50mpg good luck
