l am not sure about the legalities but l am sure if the bulb on the dashboard was to ''blow'' there would be little to influence the tester in the wrong direction would there [wink wink]
the cost of the replacement is huge - so it;s well worth trying to get it through without - on a 7 year old car, l would then trade it in!!! or get rid before the current mot runs out.

lol lol lol Im a mechanic yes its going to fail on emmisions test & driving with a faulty cat cant cause damage ie complete Cat melt down , high fuel consumption , poor running ! it could be ur cat has smashed up ie hitting speed bumps 2 fast or it could be ur Lambda sensor ! maybe a diagnostics machine would help u can get a garage to stick ur car on a computer & get the fault code reading for about £20 Also if u r short of the cash u can get a cat from a scrap yard
