limo is wrong, it is clearly e^ln(4x^2) - 40*10^(log)x + 1/103^-1

Basically they want you to group or organise the expression into something much tidier.

They want you to group x^2, x and constant variables together.

So first expand y = 4(x-5)^2 + 3, you will find (please excuse me if l get this wrong cause its been yonks since l did maths). you'd get 4x^2, -20x, 100 and 3.. so group the ''like'' numbers together and you'd get.

4x^2, -20x and 103.. and that is the answer.

1. u have to consider the logical algebretic order
ie. when u have a multiplication & adding in the same prop. do the multiplication first''note that dividing is just another form of multiplication''and when u have no other mult.-or division- then do the adding & subtracting

please note that the power function comes before the mult.

you must be able to see the algebritic operations here

ie. we got a constent ''4'' multiplyed by a power function
''(x-5)^2'' added to a constent ''3''

now open (x-5)^2 first,then multiply the answer by 4,and finally add 3.

ie.
(x-5)^2= x^2-10x+25
now 4(x-5)^2 = 4(x^2-10x+25)====> 4x^2-40x+100

now add 3
==> 4x^2-40x+103 ----------------(1)

now compare (1) with
y = ax^2 + bx + c '' from the Q''

==> a = 4 ; b = -40 ; & c = 103
