my mum dad and l are thinking of getting a brand new citroen picasso petrol with a 1.6i engine. we have never had a new car before, we were hoping for a smaller one but it is so cheep it is under £10,000 when l got in it l fell in love with it. we r just wondering though is it a good car

They r a good car if u like that sort of thing, but buying one brand new is complete madness - Citroen is aggressive pricing means that depreciation is very heavy.
The list price of a brand new Xsara Picasso 1.6i 16v Desire is £15,640. You should be able to pick these up brand new for £8,999 with some haggling & shopping around. This makes it look a pretty good deal.
However, the three year value of that car (how much it is worth at three ears old) is £3,557 - it is an old model still sold alongside the C4 Picasso.
You could buy the same car at twelve months old in immaculate condition for under £6,000, saving between three & four thousand pounds in depreciation.
Buying the base model of any car brand new is seldom a good idea - they r not as sought after in the second hand market, where buyers generally want more kit for their money.

l have one -its a company vehicle and was bought new. It really is a good car and l would recommend. However, JG has a big point and if l was buying it privately l woul go with a recent used one. l would also suggest you consider the 1.6 diesel, which uses a lot less fuel and still goes very well indeed - test drive it.

Citroens are cheap because they are kak. Do not buy one or you will be sorry.
