cv joints are hard to change on the AX so l suggest you change the whole drive shaft .

The Citroen AX is getting on a bit now, so changing something as fiddly and costly as the drivershaft is not really worth it.

Save your pennies and invest in a more modern car.

who cares how old it is, that was'nt the question,
to change the driva shafts on a AX is very simple, jack the complete front end of the car up & put some axle stands (or simular) to make sure the cars secure, take the front wheels off, undo the centre hub nuts (they r the big nut in the centre of the wheel, they hold the wheel bearing together, this might be easier to undo when the car is on its wheels, they can be very very tight), there is a 17mm bolt going through the bottom ball joint which is attached to the wishbone, remove this bolt & withdraw the bottom arm (you may need a big bar to lever the arm out as they can be tight), l find it easier to remove the track-rod end of the hub aswell (the arm coming from the steering rack), as it allows u to move the hub more freely to withdraw the driveshaft cup out off the hub, once all this is done get like a crow bar in between the inner driveshaft cup & the gearbox & the drive shafts should just pop out,
rermember that once the driveshafts r removed that the gearbox oil will drain out so have a bowl handy to catch it, refit in the reverse way of this discription, also remember to top the gearbox up with oil once finished, hope this helps, Gary
